AV technology standards for ATO
The Australian Taxation Office built a new office accommodation facility in Liverpool Place, Townsville QLD, which was completed in 2019. The technology enabled spaces included: collaboration spaces, small, medium, and large meetings spaces, a Cisco telepresence room, large combinable conference rooms, a large IT training room and open staff breakout spaces.
The client has developed national AV technology standards for its workplaces across the country with the assistance of konnectus. These have evolved over time with our team’s input since 2013 and have been the reference point for all AV technology new builds and uplifts. The standards have specific design and equipment criteria for each different type of space.
In this Townsville project konnectus had recently provided advice into the latest version of the national AV technology standards for ATO. The systems designed into and installed at Townsville were thus a first. Previous iterations of IT training room designs were improved upon. The version in Townsville was a lot more user friendly and simple for trainers to operate – especially with video conferencing.
The two large combinable conference rooms were also designed with a new experience for ATO end users. The audio solution was completely ceiling based – in particular the microphones for audience members. This provided more flexibility for different furniture arrangements to be set up without compromising AV functionality.
Lastly, all of the single rooms were designed to be simple “plug and play” experiences. The connection of a single cable automatically started the technology in the room. No remote controls. No control panels. Just EASY!!
