Konnectus and AKA Acoustics partnered together to solve conference room acoustic related issues for a large corporate client in Parramatta earlier this year.

Our client had recently upgraded their commercial offices and installed brand new AVT solutions in three of their conference rooms. Unfortunately, the acoustic comfort for people using the rooms was very low, and the listening experience for people dialling into the rooms on video calls was terrible.

The importance of acoustic design for comfortable speech communication in meeting spaces is often underestimated in commercial offices. This was the case in these rooms.

AKA Acoustics developed a modern design solution to improve the acoustic comfort for our client in their Parramatta office meeting spaces. By using high-quality acoustic materials to eliminate unwanted reflections and control the room’s natural reverberation, AKA managed to provide a significant increase to speech intelligibility and articulation whilst respecting the brand’s design guidelines and maintaining a professional aesthetic.

Suspended acoustic baffles and wall-mounted panels helped to control acoustic reflections bouncing off the large, reflective surfaces (boardroom table, glass walls, whiteboards, exposed gyprock etc), increasing clarity within the space and helping to optimise the performance of the already-installed video conferencing systems.

NOTE: The issues were resolved without spending $1 on upgrading any of the AVT systems in the rooms.

Here below is an image of one of the spaces before starting the project. You will note lots of hard and reflective surfaces i.e. glass walls and plasterboard walls and ceiling.
